Frequently asked questions

Death Certificate

If the passing occurs in a hospital, the attending doctor will issue the death certificate. If the passing occurs at home, a family doctor may be engaged to certify the death, or we can assist in arranging a doctor on your behalf. In cases where the cause of death is undetermined, the deceased will be conveyed to the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) for further investigation before funeral arrangements can proceed.

Who is Free Thinker Funeral Service suitable for?

Free thinker funeral services are generally suitable for individuals who do not practise any specific religion or faith. In some situations, families may be unsure of the deceased’s religious preference — for example, if the deceased had converted previously or had lost contact with their religious community. In such cases, families may choose a free thinker service as a respectful and neutral option. Families who prefer a simple, non-religious wake may also choose this service.

Can I include religious ceremonies during the wake?

Yes. Free thinker funeral services allow flexibility for special arrangements. Some families may choose to include religious prayers or rituals before the cremation or burial. Our funeral directors can assist in coordinating with the relevant religious representatives if required.

What should be done after the cremation service?

As free thinker funerals do not involve specific religious obligations, the ashes may be placed at: - Government columbariums - Private columbariums There are no mandatory follow-up prayers or rituals. Families may visit their loved ones during anniversaries or special occasions for remembrance.

What if I do not wish to keep the ashes?

Besides housing the ashes in a columbarium, families may consider: Sea ash scattering Garden of Peace or Garden of Serenity ash scattering Our funeral directors will assist with the necessary arrangements and application procedures.

We answer your call at any hour, day or night.
