Planning ahead

What Should I Prepare for a Buddhist Funeral Service?

It is always advisable to plan ahead so that you are not overwhelmed when the time comes. Early preparation helps to minimise stress, avoid unnecessary last-minute arrangements, and allows the family to focus on paying their respects meaningfully.

1

Clothing for the Final Journey

It is important to prepare at least one set of clothing and bring it to the hospital. Dressing your loved one appropriately during the discharge process ensures a dignified and respectful farewell.

2

Photograph for the Funeral Service

Families are encouraged to select a suitable photograph in advance. If the photo is a group picture, we can professionally crop and edit it to focus on the individual.

3

Ceremony Emcee

We will provide a ceremony emcee to conduct the funeral day send-off, lead the guests, and ensure that the funeral procession is well organised.

4

Ceremonial Items

Funeral essentials such as candles, incense sticks, and incense offerings to be placed into the casket are included in our packages.

5

Yearly Remembrance

Our company will conduct a yearly remembrance service for deceased who have been passed on to us.

慎终追远

Every rite honoured, every detail handled.

From the first call to the final send-off, one team arranges everything with care, so your family is free to grieve and to be present.

Guidance for families

Frequently asked questions

Death Certificate

If the passing occurs in a hospital, the attending doctor will issue the death certificate. If the passing occurs at home, a family doctor may be engaged to certify the death, or we can assist in arranging a doctor on your behalf. In cases where the cause of death is undetermined, the deceased will be conveyed to the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) for further investigation before funeral arrangements can proceed.

What is 49days Prayer?

In Buddhist practice, emphasis is placed on making offerings and dedicating prayers to the deceased during the 49-day period following passing. Having a memorial tablet placed at home allows the family to create a peaceful space for remembrance and prayer. Weekly prayers are commonly conducted to generate merits for the deceased during this period.

What Happens After the Buddhist Funeral?

Families are encouraged to consider the final resting place for the ashes in advance. Private columbarium niches may be purchased beforehand, while applications for government columbariums can be assisted by our Funeral Directors. Preparing the niche early allows families to better manage their time during the wake and plan their budget more effectively.

Can Buddhists do Land Burials in Singapore?

Yes, Buddhists may opt for land burial in Singapore. However, the casket must be of burial grade, as required by regulations. After 15 years, families will be required to recover the remains during the exhumation exercise conducted by the National Environment Agency (NEA).
